Meet Dr. Traci Ballou-Broadnax

Dr. Traci Ballou-Broadnax is a Licensed Clinicial Psychologist in the state of Virginia. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University, and her Psy.D. in Clincial Psychology from the Graduate School of Applied & Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. She has had clinical experiences in high school and college counseling centers, integrated medical settings, and community mental health clinics. She has also worked with agencies providing in-home and center-based behavioral services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Dr. Ballou-Broadnax's research and clinical interests include perfectionism, self-compassion, identity development, family and couple relationships, and the impact of mental health on the successful navigation of life transitions. By combining interpersonal, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and emotion-focused approaches, Dr. Ballou-Broadnax helps clients explore how early development, attachment, and relational factors interact with the present to influence, maintain, and reinforce challenging thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses. She strives to create a warm, collaborative, flexible, and non-judgmental space; and offers clients a relationship characterized by respect for their experiences, sensitivity to their identities and cultures, and a genuine desire to hear their unique stories. Dr. Ballou-Broadnax works with adults and individuals in their late teens.

 

Dr. Ballou-Broadnax has special interests and training in the following areas:

  • Reducing perfectionism & increasing self-compassion

  • Adjustment to college

  • Treatment for depression & mood disorders

  • Couples therapy & interpersonal concerns

  • Identity formation (LGBTQIAP+, racial & cultural identities, etc.)
